Junior, All i can say is Wow! You and your dad are doing a superb job on the car, it is coming up a treat.:thumb:

You must both be a bit tired by now - i know how much work it takes to get a car to this stage. The hardest part ( body and paint ) is now almost done, it will not be long before you are driving it.

Are you going with flat black on the bonnet and spoiler - or gloss? We copped a bit of flack for doing our mach1 in the gloss - but bugger it - personal choice.

The Magnum 500 wheels will look great too!

Please keep those pics coming as you get each job done. Watching with keen interest.

Love that Lime Gold colour too - but admit to being a bit biased.:smile01:

Rocket.

Thanks once again everyone - dad and I have shed some blood and sweat on her but all blood is followed by laughter!!!

Lime gold looks great especially with the black highlights- personal taste I'm going for the satin for the black, LOVE satin finish! In addition, since dad is a sign writer and has access to plenty of vinyl we will cut all the stickers for the side and trunk in a satin black finish with metallic gold highlights instead of the reflective scotchbright style from factory

More pics shortly

Can't wait to see the custom stickers!

Would this be something your Dad would be willing to do again in the future to sell? I don't like the reflective either and was also considering removing the rear quarter light. If this was something I knew I could get from someone who had done a set before, I'd be confident on buying them.

Hey mate,

I can't see why not!  But I'd say wait until we get it all cut and if you like the look of it I'll ask him if we can run another set off for you.

The black stripes on the side of my coupe with "GT" (as per my signature pic) we cut at the workshop after my uncle decided to make a GT350 clone ... we just removed the 350 haha.

Sounds good Junior! I'll be real keen to see how yours turn out. Are yours going to be identical in sizing to the originals?
I dislike the reflective part of the sticker that much I have considered leaving them off. But it is part of the the Mach 1 look that really makes it stand out for what it is. It'll be great to see how you and your Dad go.

Keep it up! :thumb:

Hey guys,

Update attached - engine is in and just need the exhaust made up to meet the headers (a tad loud).  but paint is complete and starting to part it back together.

Happy with how the paint came up for an amateur home job:

Kudos to you and your dad.:thumb:

Cannot see anything that looks amateurish! It is an excellent paint job - you can both be very proud of what you have done.

just a quick update before final pictures of the completed car !!!

almost all interior is in - just have to do some re-carpeting of the back of the rear fold down and get the dash back together... Our mechanic has been working like an animal to get all electrics 100%.

Clock working
Speedo working
all body lighting working
all interior lighting working
interior indicator lights working
fuel gauge working
tacho... almost working haha

Once that is complete - ready to get roady and rego.

Dad did some neat cut out plates in aluminium for the number plates.

Back is shaped to fit neatly on the bottom bar mount, painted body colour and cover all ugly fitting holes/  front is folded on an angle backwards, painted black and sits under the front recess of the bar (didn't both using the mounting holes on the bottom pan).

Thanks,
Keith.
