Are you going to white wall those tyres Michael?

Hi Mark
I kinda like the idea of redlines.:smile02:

Thanks for the kind words guys.

I was up early again this morning and gave her a good wash and then  cruised down to Dales.
We talked Mustang sh#t for an hour and then I cruised home.
Could it get any better ?

Ive spent about $80 worth of petrol in the last couple of days.........going nowhere in particular !
Just getting the feel of the car.
And the more I get used to it, the more I love it.

I can smell oranges !
Michael

Great to see you are out having fun in the car.

Sure beats the hell out of working on it for 2 years in your garage, but very much worth the sacrifice.:thumb:

Been off work for a few days with a bad back.
Bored sh#tless at home with only the internet and tv to amuse me.
Thought Id update the thread.
Been driving her heaps, the wet weather here preventing me driving her more.

Starting to find some problems.
Starting to fix some of them.

Feel like Ive gone to a stage 2 of this resto now.
It doesnt end with rego  :banghead:
Had the front wheels aligned properly and cant believe the difference it made.
Really smooth and easy now. No wandering.
Not hearing any squeaks, creaks, noises from the front end so pretty happy with the way it all came up.
Had the diff rebuilt. It still has a minor whine due to some wear on the pinion and ring I think.
Hardly noticeable and certainly better than the loud grinding noise I had before.
Can live with it.
She`s a bit hard to start when cold. Takes a few minutes sometimes.
The auto choke has been disconnected previously because it is seized.
Im unsure whether I should go for the 600-650 holley that a couple of locals suggested or try fixing up the choke.
Just driving her for the moment. Not in a rush to start removing things.
Is there much involved in the choke for a novice ?
Also got a c4 trans that slips a bit going 2-3 when fully warmed up.
Had it serviced but problem still exist, so looking at a rebuild at some stage I guess.

My 4month back order arrived.
68 coupe NOW with spinners ! :thumb:

Hi Michael, Those spinners finish it off nicely.

Sorry to hear that you have done your back in. Not much fun.

I don`t think you really ever get a car absolutely finished. Always more to do, but at least you get to drive it after rego.

Who did the wheel alignment for you? Need to have mine done. Been meaning to do it again for about 2years, but never quite get around to it. Was a bit of a handful on the trip, especially through the Blue Mountains. About to spend a bit of dosh on a TCP Rack and Pinion - Should make all the difference.

Have you made a "Things to do" list for the car yet? Heres mine-
TCP Rack and Pinion
Gear Vendors Overdrive
Electronic Ignition
Reclining front seats.
That will do it for a while.

About time we all went for a bit of a cruise.:burnout:

One of Dave Bills friends out at commericial Rd Salisbury called Frank.

Yep, that was me Mark.
Cant miss her can you ?
She also had a run out to Tanunda this afternoon and me and wifey took in a couple of wineries.
Even though I have a nice XR8 daily driver as well , Im enjoying the old school style of the car and just love taking her out at the moment.:smile02:

Hey if its a new holley 600 checked auto choke, even when kicked off they can hang on, they have a nylon cap on linkage, wind choke completely back so its not working and try idling, then adjust back to activate...:thumb:

Have now narrowed it down to the choke and it appears to be reactivating/sticking.
Its an electric choke on a new Holley 570 street avenger.
Currently trying a few adjustments.
Suggestions welcome :hope:

Well I looked at this thread and couldnt believe it has been nearly 2 years since I last posted.
Have spent the last 2 years slowly going through the mechanicals and upgrading, including
disc brake conversion, trans has been out again for T/C issues, pertronix ignition, suspension and multiple other small things .
She`s now very reliable and and I think shes finally finished. :fingerx:
I drove her to the 2014 nationals and met a few fellow forum members who recognized the car so I thought I would post some recent pics .

And this one was requested by a fellow member at our Nationals dinner table on the Friday (sorry Im terrible with names).

+1

Michael and I spoke of  the sinking feeling he had after buying the car and then removing the old vinyl off the roof only to discover the rust in the roof. Thankfully you persevered and replaced the roof, then built an amazing gorgeous Mustang.

Well done on a top Restoration. :thumb:

I think the below photo says it all....

A couple of pics from the You Yangs proving ground while I was at the Nationals.

Was also pretty chuffed at being named as the attitude of the week at this website, which was a great resource for me when I was building the car.
