carpet is also rubber backed it keeps the cold out and the moisture

"If you don't mind me asking, why? Is it due to the RHD conversion?"
yes thats correct, its an expensive pain but it has to be done (note to self proffesional conversion does not mean engineered)

Hi wildplum. Looking at your XA takes me back to my XB from many years ago!
Re the Mustang. from what I can see it looks like a Mach 1. The GT's were pretty rare (1969 was the last year the GT was made, they were basically replaced by the Mach 1 which was designed to close the gap between the GT and the Shelby). Most obvious things would be the GT gas cap and wheels, which could easily have been replaced. Mach 1 should have 63C as the body type on the door data tag.

best way to check would be to visit www.mustangdecoder.com and put in your vehicle codes as recorded on the door data tag and VIN.

Let me know how you go. GT's can be worth more than Mach 1's - one was recenty for sale in the US for nearly $100k.

i have to get engineers cert

If you don't mind me asking, why? Is it due to the RHD conversion?

all vehicles in victoria require Engineers cert made after the 1st Jan 1969 if they have never been rego'd in Aus before..(ADR's).thisincludes seat belts etc

Bugger. I guess once you have the certificate that'll be a big reassurance it's all ok!

only 6 weeks ago th Vic Govt changed the rules
to get a rwc  you need proof of engineered
eng certs only last for 28 days! if you dont have the car ready you have to reapply
rwc requires photos of various items and a gas test
RWC from first inspection you only have 7 days to complete repairs or go through the whole process again
so chicken and egg process at the minute

Register the car in NSW, then register it in Vic - that way the car has been previously registered in Oz. That seems too simplistic so sure they have a plug for that loophole!

Seriously though, check the build date of the stang. They started building the 69 model in August 68 so if you have a 68 build, you bypass the 1/1/69 cut off.

checked the car out its  a 26/3/69 car
although its a hassle i will get it done then its done once and for all
the question will be what the engineer says fingers crossed on that one

Well then welcome to the 69 Mach 1 fraternity. doesn't matter how rare it is - it's yours to enjoy.

All the best and keep the pics coming when you do the changes.

As you are going for Vic Club Reg, if your car was still LHD then you would not need engineers, I suspect it is the RHD drive that is forcing this, and not the change to RWC requirements that just took place. I put a 70 LHD through club reg two weeks ago and did not need an engineers, even though I had the full photo shoot for the RWC.

Just call one of those mobile hose guys like Enzed - they can make one up for you.

Also, I believe there was a Mach 1 with GT option pack, so maybe you have one. but I think Marti report would report it.

Nice car BTW ... I would keep it Gold though.

Cheers,
Frank.
