I spoke to the US Muscle organiser of the photoshoot.

There are a few issues we need to think about.

1) We need a factory premises for a number of reasons. He is looking into the models situation for me. I would think we would need around 4 or 5 models. They need a place to get changed, sit down, etc. Also they and us will need a toilet throughout the day. The premises where my work is free but visually its a shithole from behind and the front is busy and has no parking. It would not do the day any justice and would be a waste. We need a decent size care park with access to power and a toilet.

2) Using a public place also has issues. You are not permitted to rock up at a public area and start a photoshoot day. Councils must be informed and then it enters into the system and next thing you know we need permtis, insurances, etc, etc. Also, if we start to make a spectacle somewhere public and numbers start to pick up purely due to curiosity, how are we going to control a crowd?

3) We need to keep numbers to a maximum of 12. Otherwise, we will quickly run out of time for proper photos of each car and have to rush things - of which we need to avoid.

4) If members taking there cars there for photos for the day are paying money for photos and models, we need to keep spectator numbers to a minimum to be fair to the members forking out the doe and keep the day safe. We dont need the word to spread and have 10 cars and 88 people. If people don't agree then please feel free in debating the point with me and others on this thread. I am not saying every person there must have a car, but active members would be welcome but mates and onlookers there on word of mouth may make the models uncomfortable and to bigger crowd in that sort of atmosphere poses its own issues.

At the minute, without a premises, we are stuck and can't move forward.

I am currently checking if we can get a place locked in. This is not as simple as a task as it sounds. We would need their premises, access to inside of their place and use of their facilities, and hope they trust we will leave it cleaner than the day before as they may not want to give up a Sunday to be there also.

Kind Regards,
John

I have a few leads I am looking into as well. Where is the club set as far as public liability insurance etc?

Models shouldn't be too hard to get. We were always getting models free when I was studying photography in exchange for a copy of digital files for their portfolio. I am happy to look into it, I have a few contacts.

Would it be helpful to meet in person to brainstorm ideas?

Regarding the club's insurance, I think it would need to be a sanctioned club event (ie. in the club events calendar and open to all members) to be covered, but that's only a guess. Probably worth contacting Ian Collins (Club Secretary) and checking with him first.

Cowgirl - Happy to meet - I have U2U'd my mobile number.

Macka - I can't make the pub, but will be at the meeting. We can discuss it there.

Regarding the models - I suggest we all get our own quotes to get hold of 4 models for the day and post our results or chat by phone. We'll then choose our best option and book it.

Regarding the location, I had a good sleep on it and thought I might take a cruise past some local businesses with decent size car parks and check if any are around on Sundays. I also thought a "out of the way" pub with a decent car park would be a good idea. We could ring that pub and ask for a corner of their car park. We then have a place to grab an ale and maybe some lunch and a toilet and bathroom.

Thirsty, a place with new concrete always comes up well in a shot. Gives it a studio feel.

My 2 cents worth

Hi All,

Been seeking out locations.
As I explained above, without a location, no use going any further.
Good news is I am waiting on a call back and are 80% confident I have got one organised.

To all who are interested, I will be U2U ing the location once confirmed.

No, Not just mustangs.

12 cars are the limit. Any classic welcome.

I have the location confirmed.

I will be U2Uing all who are interested to se who's still in.

We have a roped off area between 10am - 12 pm, then the ropes come down and we can stay on.

The venue has toilets, bathrooms and meals -  plus an area roped of just for us.

Its only 15 minutes drive from Greensborough to give everyone an area for the shoot.

Kind Regards,
John

Just checking, I am planning for the 12th.
Have avoided the 19th on purpose, otherwise no one would turn up!! :smile01:

Yep, Didn't think of that.

We may be better of pushing forward a month or so.

I have go a quote for 3/4 models and a photographer , with 60 edits and all raw images supplies at about 1000.

Another problem is the US muscle guys took 7 hours on the day and the place I have got to section off a part of their car park will only give us 2 hours.

The cold weather may also be a problem. Not only the cols, but its a crappy day, we'd waste our time and money.

Not trying to sound negatuve but the more I dig into this project, the more I am starting to think we put it off for warmer weather, and we organise a proper premises for a full day.

Once we spend the 1000, its done, so making sure we get it right the first time is a must. We all want to finish the day and comment on how good it was, not what a waste it was.

At 10 cars, its $100 a car. Not bad really. But still a lot to blow if the day isn;t long enough / weather turns crap / some don't turn up.
Whats everyones thoughts?

Postphone it for a few more weeks due to long weekend?
Postphone it until warmer weather and we get premises for a full day instead of 2 hours?
Still aim for 12th June?

Kind Regards,
John

John, I would say it's better leaving it until the weather is warmer, what if it's a really cold wet day and only a handful of cars turn up? Besides the later it is the more chance I will have my Fastback on the road, then again maybe not.

Thirsty,

My 2cents worth...
Think it would be better postponing until warmer weather...that gives me a chance to have the Fastback together again..!

It also allows more time for us all who wish to have their cars photographed to assist in finding a location that we can use for a whole day..

J1... if mine not back together, quite happy to use your coupe!

Cheers, :burnout:
