Getting Acquainted with the Grande
« on: March 03, 2011, 02:31:01 pm »
:yellowpepper:

The Grande was presented to the Regency Park Motor Registration Division for Inspection this week and passed with flying colours.

Just had to stamp a special issue engine no. on the block. All done and now on the road.

Guess who is going to be spending the weekend cruising around?:burnout:

Here are some pics -

Next week we will begin to personalise the car. First job is to lower it, then fit a decent stereo, followed by a Dakota Digital Dash -

http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.cfm/page/ptype=product/product_id=208/category_id=434/home_id=-1/mode=prod/prd208.htm

Jeremy fitted one of these to his 65 coupe and considers it to be the best upgrade he has fitted to the car. Hoping Blkpny might have one in stock.

Oh well...... going cruising.

Nice example Rocket.

Lowering it will top it off nicely.

Hey thanks fellas, Actually it was Jeremy and Brad who both worked their butts off to get it ready. I am very proud of the work they did.

Can`t make it for the Zipple cruise this weekend unfortunately, but this car has nice cold airconditioning so will catch up with you Adelaide fellas pretty soon.

Well....Wouldnt you believe it. Did get to drive the car home on Thursday.

Took the missus for an outpatient visit at the hospital yesterday. Doctors found a problem and admitted her to hospital for a minor operation. Bugger! She will be fine but it means twice daily visits to the hospital for a while. Cannot take the Mustang to the hospital - so i am back behind the wheel of the i30.

Might be up at the crack of dawn on Sunday morning and take the Mustang for a cruise.

Rocket,

Hope the Missus comes good and you don't wake too many of your neighbours with your early morning crusing !

Hi stang8, Thanks, my wife is fine, just a minor operation this time - but likely to be in hospital for several weeks recuperating.

Will be as quiet as possible getting the car out tomorrow, but the rumble of that v8 is very nice - so probably won`t be able to resist a bit of a tap on the accelerator as i leave.:burnout:

Managed to go for a nice long cruise this morning. Figured i would drive down the expressway to Largs Bay and take some photos of the car at the beach, but wifey rang as i was  leaving and wanted me to call in to see her ( operation done and all is well ).

On the way back i diverted along the new Northern Expressway and took the Grande for a nice long cruise. I am very impressed with the car - but found a few little issues -

At 80 mph ( according to the speedo ) there were some fumes entering the cabin, although when i backed off to 70mph the fumes were gone.
Could be the Exhaust which is pretty old. Did a favour for Dave at Salisbury Exhaust not long ago and he wants to fit a dual exhaust on the car for me. Better speak with him through the week.

The fresh air vents work fine on face level, but when i turn the air cond on for some reason it comes out at the demister ducts. Thought at first it could be a vacuum problem but not sure now because as soon as i turn the air con off it goes back to face level. Probably a fault in the switch.

Also noticed the brake pedal became hard rather than progressive as i neared the end of the drive. Still plenty of brakes, but could possibly do with a brake fluid change, a kit through the calipers and new rear wheel cylinders.

The Engine was purring. Felt like it was happy to cruise all day.

Conclusion - The Grande is Grand. Love it!
