WHERE ABOUTS ARE YOU IN OZ........Different rules for different states around Australia as to what you can have or not have registered. In Adelaide they would probably pick the radio, the fancy electronic ignition etc , in fact anything that was not factory standard...Dont rush in to the first thing you find...learn all you can about the style of car your after so you are better able to make a more informed decision on the cars condition etc.....Just remember you are still buying a 45 year old car...they all have their fair share of faults..

that car looks pretty reasonable.........:thumb:

Yeh in Adelaide i know they would pick on the radio and ignitio and maybe the tyres.
they are very fussy over here.

Im looking for a mustang exactly like the won that just sold on ebay, i understand that they are old cars and im prepared for any minor rust or issues i might come across.
After all i have had alfa's most of my life which are the biggest lemons of them all.

There is one for sale in SA on carsales.com.au.
its a red 65 ford mustang, manual like im after but the interior is not white and red like i want, sure i can get it redone, but he is already asking $49K for it..............I was hoping to get away with 45-50K after spending money on fixing what ever is wrong with the one i buy.

Hi Nzacca, good luck in your search, I too love 65 & 66 fastbacks. As emberglo said, it pays off not to rush in & properly inspect any potential purchases so not too many costly surprises come along later. I was curious as to why you had suspicions on the ebay item you posted the listing of. I know there are so many horror stories out there, but maybe you might be able to check if they are authentic. The 66 convertible I bought last year was originally listed on ebay, I posted questions to the vendor and ended up with his mobile number & personal email address, so ebay was then out of the picture. Sure there are still risks involved but its about limiting them, after all the hard earned is too hard to get in the first place for these thieves to ply their sh#tty trade. All the best mate,
Luke. :thumb:

Why would SA registration pick on a radio or an upgraded ignition?

The car looks very neat and at a reasonable price. Radio can be pulled and ignition can be (temporarily) changed. At some point you need to pull the trigger - you already expect some sort of issues so your ready to move.

Note: You can search for the vendor and apply other methods to verify the seller. Google maps and street view can also help. So can a phone call in the middle of the night.

In SA our Department or Transport require for all Left hand Drive vehicles to be absloutely bog stock standard......If it isn't it wont get registered..Not to say that a great majority of cars , once registered don't get altered...In SA we dont have inspections after it is registered unless you receive a defect notice from our good friends in Blue. If your on club rego, then the car car needs a yearly inspection by club dating officers etc...Hope this clears up a few things

Hence we have some pretty good quality original type gear here   :thumb:

Thanks guys for ur replys, have been toying with the idea of extending the house loan for a classicspeed car from the phillopines. They r not cheap starting at 70k up, but spoke to the manager on the phone who really sounds like he knows what he is talking about. They sent me a DVD of the workshop and it looked great! Cars are brought in from America stripped down and everything is replaced except for the engine block. They even have a race track next to he factory and welcomed me to come down a give one of there cars a test drive. Forgot to mention the cars are converted to rhd too.
Anyone bought a car from these people....?
