Shipping from the US
« on: January 15, 2011, 07:28:56 am »

Im trying to ship some Tinman Subframe connectors from minnesota to perth, the airfreight is US$375 but they only cost US$175 I have tried USPS, UPS & Fed Ex. All very expensive.
Does anyone know a cheaper option to ship to Perth,

Alternately does anyone have a container coming to perth and have room for them. 48"x6"x6" 26lbs. Im happy to pay

cheers

I was recently told by a customs broker that it would be best to get the owner of hte vehicle to purchase the items otherwise you would get slugged seperate unpacking fees etc etc.

Might be good to verify this before proceeding.

Yep find someone bringing a car in and put it in their trunk, then sling them a bottle of bourbon and its the way to go.  Some companies specialize in putting stuff like that in their cars they are brining over.  I know California Images over here does it.

Mate,
It may not help if you have already bought the items, but you might consider looking to buy closer to one of the ports that some of the Aus importers ship from. Many will ship fm California to Perth. Might save a few dollars.

Yeah by the looks of it.  Id say go the boot of an imported car.  I'm looking at a heap of parts to be bought over atm, but f*** me the shipping/freight is stupid money!

for eg. for a supercharger kit,  they wanted $868 from california to melbourne, or $575 for a full interior kit.

If I'm dropping my pants n holding my ankles for that pricing, they could at least buy me dinner..

it's been my personal experience that you do not want to and nor is it permitted to send anything in the trunk or any loose items in the car at all, certainly via Ro/Ro and so you'll run the very high risk of losing these items.

I would suggest having them shipped via DHL as they tend to be very cheap relative to the other carriers.

Kindly.

My car came to Perth via Shermatt with all manner of goodies in the trunk....never got pinged for them but perhaps i was lucky. I think when they saw the car they knew i had my work cut out for me!
