Fozzy, an AU starter won't fit an early bell housing. have tried. I think the mount holes are off set. Shame though because they are a good little starter motor.

Looking at those pics the flexplate is the wrong size for that bellhousing. The ring gear on that smaller diameter flexplate is too far from the starter bendix/gear centreline.
