Does anyone have a recommendation for an approved engineer for compliance certificate in relation to imported vehicles? I have to get my 1970 car signed off. I have seen the list on the dpi website but I'm just wondering if anybody can recommend someone please.

Thanks for the replies. Exhausted Adrian Pitic is on the DPI website, good to have a recommendation. JC if you don't mind digging up the details you have also, I'd appreciate it, just in case.

Depends on the year of the car Phil. The way I understand it, my 1970 model has to be certified before licensing, which is overkill, because all I have to do is swap the headlights out and have an amber indicator at the rear. But the engineer has to complete a 14 page document (and charge $300-$400). The technical section at licensing are the ones to talk to if you are going to be licensing an old car. If anyone can tell me otherwise I'm all ears !!

Its so that the guys at the pits done reallyhave to do much leg work - and htey can essentially just sign off on a professionals assessment-  its understandable - as the engineers have all the tools to assess braking, structures etc....

Good luck Ponyride :)

I used Jack Apgar (Duncraig) on 9246 1600 to get my sign off.
He is fully qualified and operates out of his home. I found him to be very reasonable in costs and also in attitude!
best of luck

I used to work for Jack! Nice guy to work for.
His claim to fame was the sub-sea plough used to bury the offshore gas pipeline back in the 80's.
I'll have to give him a call when I'm ready for an engineer.
