Hi Eleanor67,

Congratulations, the build-up of the car is coming along great!

Just one question regarding your steering wheel, how will you be hooking up your horn's, as the the cobra centre button has no facility for a horn button as it's just a cover to hide the 6 mounting bolts to the steering boss/hub?

Originally on the 65 GT350 Shelby's, a Lucas toggle switch was placed in between the instrument cluster and the radio in order to engage the horn.

I believe an original one sold a little while ago for just over $400.00 US, however I believe a similar version is available from a guy over in England.

Cheers,

Trans-Am:cool:

Hi all sorry it's been so long since my last up date. I just got my new radiator from aussie dessert coolers today. Thing are starting to move again so should have some more updates soon.
here are some pic's of the radiator

Love the radiator. I might get one for my car as it looks a bit of a hotch potch of bits.
Is that the street and strip or burnout king version.

Hi all, im back. I have been flat out lately and i have got nothing done on eleanor. Between work, building the cortina for my dad and being one of the organisers of the SA All Ford Day there is just not that many hours in a day. but the good news is i have finished the cortina for dad and the all ford day is over for now so i am hopping to get stuck back into it. Here is a pic of how the cortina came up.

Hi mate sorry it's took so long to reply. The steering wheel has been a pain, they sent me the wrong one and the horn will not even fit in the wheel and the boss is the wrong spline. not sure what i will be doing with the horn as yet as i was hopping when i got the write  one it would wire up in the center.

yeah mate im going for the grey. on the out side it will look just like the car in the movie.

I am making some changes to my plans as the time it is taking is giving me the sh@#s and also the costs. so I taking out the motor and going to go for somthing more old school. this way it will make my life simpler and cheaper.
Not sure what motor i am going to go for but it will be somthing grumpy lol. i am still going to use the 5 speed tko box i have for it. If any one has any good idears on witch motor i should go for please let me know.

Nice 2V... Looks VERY clean... I didn't have much luck with mine... (Cracked) but it would have looked like that (but with a chrome rocker cover).

I have been looking into getting a new alloy 2v head from classic inlines closer to the end of the year / start of next year and topping it with a 4bbl Holley...:rub:
When the $$$ there... About $2100 + shipping + carb

Hi,

What are doing with the 4.6 motor?  Can you tell me where you got your engine mounts from? I am putting a 4.6 SVT into my 65 coupe.

I love this thread has been dug up - can see my own post pining for a project and to sell the coupe... since then coupe is sold, 69 purchased, stripped, built again ground up and on the road and looking for another project. . .

But I can't say I've go to the extent of this weapon!  Hope it's close to being on the road.

Wow! That Cortina looks shyte hot! :thumb:

Had a couple of 6cyl Cortinas back in the day. Very quick cars.

JT, i agree with you. Would be good to get rid of the old log head on the 6 cylinder Mustang and fit a head that could have a bolt on inlet manifold and a good carby. Not sure that $2100 you mention for the classic inlines head includes the cost of the inlet manifold. I priced it at 3k a year or so ago. Instead of paying that sort of money, i might look at an alloy head crossflow out of an XF. They can be bought dirt cheap. Fitted a steel head crossflow from an XD into my sons XW many years ago. Also had a Celica 5 speed box and went like shyte out of a shanghai! Just need to make sure the crossflow will fit into a 68 heightwise.

Rocket.
