I've done abit of research as this http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=AX3680 seems to be the best product on the market but is very heavy. They have this as well. http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=AX3684&CATID=15&form=CAT&SUBCATID=645

Cant really justify spending $1,000 on dynamat to do the whole cat

Dynamat the whole cat !!! poor little pussy cat !!!  :omg:

hehe

Cheers,
Frank.

For $1000 what are you covering, That would buy 180sq. ft.

How many sq. ft. do you need to do the firewall and floor including under the back seat?

Do you also still use the firewall insulation mat over the top?

just went on ryda and at checkout they add 10% gst to the purchase price, so not as cheap as ebay!

Would the 36sqft pack be sufficient to do this?

definitely cheaper as when you get to checkout at ryda.com.au, they add 10% GST and shipping for each item whereas the site that I purchase from had a flat fee of $17.95 for shipping

No!
That pic Kerry posted is my car.
I bought the 36sqft pack and although some sellers say its "enough for the whole car" it did not even make it to under the rear seat. I still have to buy more.
And when you feel the weight of those 36qft packs... I can understand the guys talking about the extra weight.

In my opinion though, its worth it to have a quieter car. Not building a race car, so some comfort is good!

36sq ft will easily cover the floor panels and you should have some left over.

I see that some car audio buffs use "flashtac" weatherproofing tape from Bunnings as a cheap alternative. Apparently it's "similar", it's a foil backed bitumen/rubber compound. It's available in rolls in a variety of widths from approx 50mm to 250mm.
I haven't used it, but I might inside my new doorskins, just as a deadener to stop drumming.
Cheers,
Mike.

Exactly, i plan on driving it for a good many years to come, so why not. A little luxury goes a long long way when the wife is going to often be in the passenger seat!

I will be using Resomat on my car.

I have helped a mate use it on his chev and on his sons EH wagon. I think the stuff is fantastic and everybit as good if not better. The Price is great compared as well.

Go to this address http://www.tru-fitcarpets.com.au/ and look under sound proofing and follow the links

cheers Glen

looks cheap , just note it is significantly thicker than most others and about double the weight. I guess that is what makes it quieter !

Oh and there was surface rust on the floor due to damp felt, i hit it with a wire wheel and then used rust converter on it before putting the dynamat down.

Hi Cap70, I have just done almost same thing. The carpets I bought had some underfelt attached so no question fo rme but I think I would use some felt underlay under your carpet as it feels and sits better.
Gator, i used DBKill pack that was about 25 sq ft but needed a bit more and I did not use it under the rear seat as I already had some heavy duty stuff under it.

I used the 36 sq ft pack and it stopped just before the rear seat shelf.
Going to get another pack to do under and behind the back seat and the parcel shelf.
I put a 12mm mdf panel in the recess behind the back seat fits nice and flush.

Looks like i will need the felt fitted the carpet and it doesnt sit right.

even with the felt installed the fit is challenging in a couple o fplaces. Tried also using a heat gun on it to help with a few corners - guess  it is the problem of not being professionals at the job or else the carpet is not quite perfectly moulded. looks good new though.
