Not much Moe, mainly accessories. The 302 will stay and just be cleaned up, painted, new lines, pulleys, dizzy etc etc but the 2 barrell carby is going. I've got a Weiend chrome intake with a 4 barrell 570 CFM Street Avenger carby and 1" spacer going on it for a bit extra punch. 4 in 1 header and 2.5" exhaust that will be reconditioned (they weren't in too bad a shape). That's pretty much it for the meantime as I need new steering, brakes and suspension also so the nice 351 or 347 stroker will have to wait a while. Also the C4 will be reconditioned and put back in. I am waiting for my mechanic to give me the full run down so once I here from him I will let you know.

Cheers guys.

On the C4, I nothing virtually nothing about tranmission so can anyone give me advice on what I should be talking to my mechanic about in terms of stall etc.

The stall speed is dependent on the cam. If the cam is staying stock then the standard converter will do the job no worries. The problem with autos is you shouldnt use a high stall in a stock engine to allow for further upgrades down the track. It is critical that it suits the engine thats in it now.

Cheers Steve, I was wondering whether to upgrade the C4 now for a stronger motor later as the reco price for a C4 is still a decent whack in the back pocket. But I get your point and it makes sense really.

You can still beef the box up, better bands & sevos etc, just the converter needs to be specific. The converter is seperate to the box, it does the same job as the clutch in a manual.

Marty , leave the stock converter in it for now , the converter needs to match the cam , so pointless spending money  on a converter that won't suit your new motor when you get around to building it, you can still rebuild the c4 , make sure you put a stage 2 shift kit in it , this will make it shift firmer and quicker and increase the life of the box, i know a very good transmission place , i'm here right now getting new rear unis fitted, joe told me it will cost $1400 to get your c4 rebuilt tough wth stage 2 shift kit , billet servos etc and when you decide to rebuild the motor you can order the right converter for it while the motor is out and just slip it on, you have my number call me if your interested.
cheers chris.

Yeah I am sure you know all about it Thirsty. One day my car might look as good as yours. Here's hoping. I just wish he could get the body & paint looking schmick like yours but the bast@rd won't tough it apart from the engine bay or unless I can afford to strip it back and do a full repsray(which I can't). Tell you what though I'm guessing the engine bay will look better then the outside, I will have to drive around with the bonnett open.

Anyway, I am going to have a crack at cutting it back ever so slightly to see if I can get the swirl marks out of it and get it to ping a bit because I love the colour so cross your fingers it works.

Cage, you never told exactly what was wrong with the paint?.....was it just the swirl marks?
Any rust issues?

Thanks for the compliments Cage,

Nice and gentle with the cut and polish. Its a great colour combo. Its not your every day mustang colour and really sets the car off. With a nice set of wheels and the mechanicals in check, it will end up an awsome car soon.

All the best.

I agree mate. I will need some advice eventually on the best way to go about the old cut and polish so if anyone has any ideas let them fly. Or am I better off getting someone like VIP car care to do it for me. Might be a better option.

The 12 slotters that are on it look tough...........not

Just to clarify on the paint, when ever you paint a car the finish & more important the durability will only be as good as what is underneath. The existing body & paint work is what it is & to give it a beauty coat would be (in my opinion) a waste of money. A quality repaint starts from the metal up, anything short of that & you are potentialy dancing with the devil. If you are dealing with a car that has been painted for 5 years plus & it still looks sound it is worth taking the punt as any underlying issues should have become apparent. Anything this fresh & given its back ground is too great a risk. Also once its all back together it will still look pretty sharp as it is. I think it is best to leave it be for the moment & revisit it later if required. At least all the major stuff will be sorted now & wont need addressing again.

There isnt enough film build on it to cut it, it would end up creating more problems. A good polish will remove the swirl marks & it will look ok.

Why is it that whenever a subject that doesn't suit the agenda of some members is aired, it gets shouted down?  If this thread saves some poor sod from losing his shirt then it's important it's aired. This is especially relevant if you're a member of the BBQ set. Eddie

Good polish it is then, on the car that is not the other thing. My wife is Polish so a double or triple meaning there if you get my drift. Cheers Steve

Cage, what were you thinking wheel wise?  Still looking for the minilites/superlites?
I couldn't pass up those 16" rims I sent you pics of, so they will be on their way to the ACT...

Nice one Moe, are you talking about the 16x7 ford rims? What did you end up paying for them?
I still definately like the minilites but they are very pricey so I might be on the look out for a set of 15x8 or 16x8 wheels that may be a second set or something that someone might want to let go for a nice price to a fellow MOCA member.
