What brand and where did you get the headers from? That's on my list for later in the year if I get a break from work.

Arrived Friday with new data plate that fixes errors on existing data plate. But as it answers questions , it also raises a few.

Does this mean its a GT or GTA? Anything special or out of the ordinary I should be aware of?

By the way Gents , just bought an installed new electronic ignition dizzy / coil / leads that I got from evilbay http://cgi.ebay.com.au/FORD-289-302-WINDSOR-ELECTRONIC-DISTRIBUTOR-COIL-LEADS-/200481119227?cmd=ViewItem&pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2ead9b1bfb. Picked this 1 because it has the Bosch 024 module on the side which just about everyone sells if I have any problems on the road. Fitted straight in. Whole job took about 25 minutes.

Hey donoauto,

i just skipped over this post... i read it a while back.

Just wondering if you are keeping the 68 grill, or retro fitting the 67 grill?

i would be interested in the 68 stuff if you were going back to the original style.

Cheers,

Tim

very lucky with the GTA! those side running horse logos are 68's too. it should have the GTA symbol there.

i wish i drove past this car... really nice buy!

why would someone buy a GT, and rip all the GT stuff off the car??? and put 68 grill??? seems really odd... its definately not stolen?

seems like its taken some major restyling over the years...

Hey Tim. Yes , I will be going back to `67 GT grille etc. The bloke who did a poor man resto on this ( about 13-14 years ago from all reports) wanted to make this thing look like "Bullitt" , hence colour & grille. I guess before they came back into flavour & high value , he didn`t realize what lay ahead & dismissed the GT gear. Badges are cheap.
I`ll keep you in mind for later when the body job/grille replacement occurs, hopefully this year.

A mate from the club up here has a 67 GTA BB, bought from the volo museum (for a lot more than $25k !!!) Usually gets it up to Lismore for the show in August, if you're around.  A good example of restored to factory specs.  Took out a prize last year, along with a 68 GT500 from our club.

Its the Summerland Sports and Classic Car Club, 1st August (9am - 2pm), behind The Workers club in Lismore.  Its a long day for lismore. Park on Ballina Rd near the big cedar log and walk across the park.  That way you can arrive and leave easy.  Head up to Woodburn and take the Whyralla Road.  Left at the rounabout in town and stop before you hit the Bridge.
Couldn't find any info online, but its usually in the Just/ Unique cars.

i'd say he meant wouldn't. if it drives as is, keep it stock till you find the right engine. you'll need all your extra cash to get one, especially if its not running or incomplete.

they aren't cheap.

How much do you think I`d be up for to buy a 390 & possibly a C6 against how much would it add value to the car. I`ve got an idea I`d be looking at around 10-15k by the time you take all the little bits & pieces into account (geez , that figure even sounds like I should add another 5-10k to it) even down to exhaust. I don`t think it will raise the value of the car by that much. I`m not going concours .I will be doing a body job on it hopefully this year & will buy whatever in the way of bits & pieces to make it look schmick. I can`t see spending that much on the engine/maybe tranny conversion will equal the returns it offers me.
Don`t get me wrong , ya can`t beat cubes but..........never the less , it is a GTA S-Code & the next fella can upgrade the donk ( unless I kill it 1st:rub:

well, i guess it all depends on how much modification they did to the car at the begining. you are 100% sure its not the original engine?

i say this because i have heard stories of people not knowing the difference and almost selling a matching numbers car as a car with a lesser engine...
